Overview
The Edinburgh Centre for Psychodynamic Therapy (ECPT) is seeking an experienced professional to serve as an External Expert and Examiner for our forthcoming Diploma in Existential Psychodynamic Therapy at SCQF Level 11. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in our course’s initial credit rating application and ongoing quality assurance. This programme aligns with Columns A/B of the SCoPEd framework.
Established in 2024, ECPT is a psychotherapy centre committed to providing accessible, affordable therapy in Edinburgh. Our low-cost therapy service, recognised by the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), is the first in Scotland to offer a blend of existential and psychodynamic therapy. We are now in the process of developing Diploma-level training in this approach with the aim of professionally accrediting it through the NCPS as well as credit rating it at SCQF Level 11.
Key Responsibilities
Provide an expert external review for the credit rating process, evaluating course objectives, assessments, administration, and the proposed credits
Ongoing quality assurance of the diploma course to ensure delivery meets SCQF Level 11 standards.
Offer constructive feedback to enhance curriculum and assessment methods.
Review student work to uphold academic and professional integrity.
Participate in an annual examination board and provide an annual report.
Ensure comparability of standards and student outcomes with similar programmes at the same level.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
A qualification at Diploma level or higher in psychodynamic therapy.
Solid understanding of existential therapy principles.
Experience in higher education teaching, assessment, and moderation.
Familiarity with the SCoPEd framework.
Desirable Attributes
Knowledge of UK HE quality codes and accreditation processes.
Experience in external expert, external examination roles or equivalent quality assurance functions.
